Cheerleaders share spirit with the next generation Marion Star
The school's 10 cheerleaders and advisor Katie Herdman shared tips and helped 17 introductory students learn moves, cheers and dances during the six-hour program. Herdman said the $25 set someone back for each student will likely go towards the purchase of new uniforms in 2010.
She said she wanted the girls to get a taste of the tradition of being cheerleaders, the ones reliable for picking up spirit regardless of what score shows on the scoreboard.
"Little girls always look up to cheerleaders," she said.
The annual episode gives the girls a chance to interact with their friends as they learn new skills from the cheerleaders. They study basic motions and learn jumps, a warm, two chants and a dance.
At the end of the day they showed off what they learned for their parents.
Jackie Treadway, 10, said she wants to be a cheerleader like her sisters were. She also said it was fun.
"You get to wail," she said. "I don't get to do that at home."
Emily Kalp, 7, said she wants to be a cheerleader just like her sister Boston was. She enjoyed knowledge the routines and hanging out with friends.

I've been invited to a togs party, and someone said i should dress as a high school musical cheerleader, as im a guy, they think it would be funny?, what would i have to wear to do it, and do u reckon i should?

High School Musical cheerleader costume?
I scarcity to purchase a High School Musical cheerleader costume for my daughter to wear to a fancy dress party. After looking at the bigness options on a couple of websites I've seen the 'large' size says ages 11-12 which my daughter is, but she has a soft 40-43" waist and 34-36B-C bust. She is however about average height for her age. Will the costume fit? I'm prepared to import/lease from somewhere if necessary at any cost, she really wants one. Any advice welcome!!
