Atlantic City's Bartenders Ball Atlantic City Weekly

You get an next sense that Andy Wells is proud of the area in which he grew up, lives and works, and an issue he spearheaded, slated for Tuesday (June 8) night, sort of serves to pilot that point home.

The first-ever Atlantic City Bartenders Ball will be a formal beeswax designed to raise money for the Ensign John R. Elliott Star Campaign for Designated Drivers. The ball will begin at 8pm in the Chelsea Lodging’s ballroom and segue into its premier-event venue, the Crystal Space, for live entertainment and dancing. The HERO Campaign, as many are aware, was established by the one's nearest of a young man with a promising future who was killed by a drunk driver in August 2000.

“I wanted to do something for the limited bartenders, businesses in the area, and people in the service industry, and I wanted to grant the money to charity,” says Wells, a bartender at the Ducktown Tavern and P of Atlantic City Bartender Training Center. “I met with Bill [Elliott, John’s originator] and his message is one of responsibility — do it, but do it responsibly. With me being a bartender and owning a bartenders school it’sPrimarilya perfect match, because I believe that bartenders do have to be more responsible and care for people’s actions. That’s how I came up with donating the lettuce to Bill and the HERO Campaign.”

If you want to become a bartender how do you do it?

Do you have to go to like bar tending school or something lol

THE SCHOOLS ARE A RIPOFF.

That said, you normally have to exertion your way up. They want you to have experience in the place itself and get a feel for how everything works. As for what they want in drinks, it varies completely. Some want merely simple, common drinks while others want the newest thing. Also keep in mind its not a steady pay and some days you're not going to make the grade b arrive much if you're just going on tips which is what most bartenders make.

That would be a righteousness idea. Some states also have a 'servers license' that you need to get. It is a class 12 or 13 in the State of Washington.

What do you all for a "living" (or did) - and what do enjoy/not enjoy about it?

I'm training to be a doc and upon to specialise in forensic pathology. Sorry to be so lah-de-dah (sp?), but I've done lots of other "normal" jobs too and gained so much. Eg, I was a bartender once and maintain the people skills got me into med school (even though I was turned down by all the unis I applied to).

Any other good/bad experiences in your career/jobs/lifework

i am a guard presentation operative!!!!!!in laymans terms a train cleaner..lol

Who would you cast in a live-action movie version of The Simpsons?

I'd dash Bruce Willis as Homer (same bald head and round, stubbly face)

William H. Macy as Ned Flanders (Scrum-diddly-umptious!)

Invaluable Hall as Moe The Bartender

and Billy Connolly as Willie The School Gardener

Homer: Jim Royale
Bart: David Platt from Corrie
Willie: Yes Billy Connolly
Apu: Dev From Corrie
Marge: Bea Arhtur or Betty Chaste
Moe: Father Jack (frank kelly) from Father Ted
Ned: Ardal O hanlon
