The Big Ten Discussion threw the world of big-time sports into a tizzy last December , when the 11-university league (extensive story) announced that it would consider adding new members, setting off widespread gamble about whether it would look East (to the University of Notre Dame or members of the Big East Seminar) or West (to members of the Big 12 Conference) to expand. The Big Ten set an 18-month curriculum for its deliberations, but the rival Pacific-10 Conference may have altered that schedule with its own statements in new days indicating that it is considering adding as many as six new members to become a mega-conference that, like the Southeastern and Big Ten Conferences, could have its own telly network. Pac-10 officials said Sunday that league presidents had preordained permission to Commissioner Larry Scott to make decisions on expansion without consulting them further. The Pac-10 is said to be inasmuch as adding a group of institutions from the Big 12 (names mentioned
What can be done to encourage Engineering and Science of Schools and rescue our heritage?

Engineering and Art subjects have been declining in schools, colleges and universities for many years with fewer students being attracted into these career paths - as such our UK engineering and meticulous base is being eroded. The UK Gov't appears not to care as within its own ranks Engineers and Scientists are not valued as highly as Administrators, Lawyers and Accountants.
Rush at the higher education almost free for the deserving students, teachers are making a lot of money and it complicates the problem.take the cue's from China,India and Cuba. Why to present a few Engineers and Doctors when you can make more.Take it from me I put three kids through university ,only I can tell how hard it was for me.and there are many many like me.

What schools in the US offer dual MS-MBA in Nuclear Engineering?
May 30, 2008 by ologunoba | Posted in Higher Education (University +)
I am interested in studying for a MS-MBA in Atomic Engineering, but the only skool i can find is University of Tenneessee, iwoul dlike more options to choose from
Any university that offers both programs will offer a joint program.
MIT is certainly the best school for it -- but Stanford, Berkeley, Duke, University of Chicago and University of Pennsylvania would also be tiptop.

has britain let itself down in the engineering world by not teaching metalwork in schools?
Sep 01, 2008 by devils advo | Posted in Teaching
i dont about you can count design technology as its too basic compared to the old system of metalwork classes it tries to encapsulate to many different subjects which old to be taught seperately in depth! such as engineering drawing, metalwork and woodwork non of which are taught anymore.
The want of skilled engineers etc was kick started by the loss /cessation of the apprentice schemes in factories,as the employers could no longer provide it.The final nail in our coffin ,was the exporting of our factories and manufacturing to foreign climes.
