DURING summer, there is one measure out of his run that causes Jambin School bus driver John Peacock no end of worry.

When it rains, an unsealed swampy segment of about 500m on Five Ways- Mt Eugene Road becomes boggy and only passable by four-wheel drive.

“If you ask me what is the worst stain on the school run, that's definitely it,” Mr Peacock said.

The bus driver, who has had the school run for eight years, said when it rained, that part can foil flooded for up to a fortnight as water does not drain away.

“There are a company of holes in the road and it's impossible to tell where the holes are (when flooded),” he said.

“The children's security is our paramount concern.”

He said last summer there was one time where the bus became bogged and had to be pulled out by a smallholder's tractor.

The Jambin School Bus Committee has written to Banana Shire Convocation asking for the section to be upgraded and have got a letter back acknowledging the council received the literally.
