Callies said that when she submitted the award, she didn't know whether the school district would receive all or part of the money to buy a new bus.

"I wasn't sure before, but that amount -- that's the entire cost of a new bus," she said.

According to Callies, the school enter had already approved the purchase of one new bus for the 2009-10 school year. Now the school district will have two new diesel vehicles for its fleet. The school district is typically restricted to purchasing one new school bus each year.

The stimulus donate money will allow the district to retire a 1998 59-passenger International bus that was beset with mechanical problems. The assign requires that mechanics decommission the old diesel engine by making it inoperable.

Instead of buying just one, the school district will toe-hold two 2010 model-year vehicles from IC Bus.
