The euphonious “Godspell” by Steven Schwarz, will be presented by members of For Your Stimulus Youth Choir of First United Methodist Church on Sunday morning, June 20 at 11:00 am during morning adore in the sanctuary of the church, 900 S. Shoreline Boulevard. Music Foreman for the production is Brad Kisner, the church’s Director of Music & Fine Arts. Accompanist is Unrestrained Beyer. Stage direction help is by Sarah Contreras..
The lyrical, Godspell, was premiered in 1971 and is a musical based upon the Gospel according to St. Matthew. It ran on Broadway for several years and has become average with church and community theatres throughout the country.
This concert is the conclusion to the choir’s annual Outreach Choir Sightsee which this year was to the San Francisco Bay Area. . These annual tours have enchanted the choir to several states including Texas, Oklahoma, California, Louisiana, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, New York, New Jersey, Maryland and Virginia. In 2008 the choir sang in a holiday concert in the National Cathedral in Washington, DC. The choir members are all volunteers and are children in grades 6 through 12 attending school in Corpus Christi, Portland and Calallen.
