What exactly are the statistics relative to suicides and suicidal ideation, I have infinitesimal clue. Fact is, though, for over 8 years I worked part-time for Lehigh County (Pa) Crisis Intervention, and by that benchmark I can tell you ideation is a huge problem.
In too many cases, if the student is thinking it, soon he or she will be doing it!
It is natural, then, for me to introduce that, if and when schools come up with appropriate in and out-service training programs for their teachers that they consider developing a plan that specifies how to pinpoint students at risk, how to handle threats (of suicide), and what actions to take in the case of suicidal threats, plus, what actions to take in the as it of a suicide.
Schools must ensure that students have, and are aware of, simple and easy ways to get help, such as access to suicide hotlines, counselors, et al.
McGinty goes on to call to mind that students, parents, guardians, teachers, and other school personnel be educated on how to identify and get help for troubled students before they actuate their suicidal ideation.
Mayhap another emergence schools might address is how to encourage teachers, students, parents/guardians to report their fears and concerns about their children and the kids of others. My scrutinization relative to Workplace Violence would indicate that over 85% of violence on or near the job site could have been prevented, if reported.

The saccharine teacher who wants everyone to talk about feelings; Veronica's chipper use of the same huddle to head off to a funeral that she earlier used to head off to a party ("Great pate, but I've gotta motor"), the devoted final shots of Winona Ryder, smudged and battered with a cigarette hanging out of her mouth, and -- of without a doubt -- the baffled father who winds up shouting, over his son's coffin, the instant classic line, "I love my expired gay son!" It's funny stuff.
But they gave everything a lot of thought, too. Just one example: Heather Chandler is strongly associated with the color red to the stress relevant of heavy-handedness, but there's a point to that, I think: red and white are the school colors, too. Which means that even after she's gone, the school is awash in red -- decent as Veronica realizes that knocking out one Heather only means there is another to take her place. (In this case, literally another Heather.) Because it's not the one girl; it's the whole humankind.

I received this missive from my son's school. And I'm conflicted, should I keep my son home 5/13?
"Not long ago, a drawing depicting a threat to our high school (that was to take place on 5/13/08) was found in one of the stairwells in our construction. from our investigation, which was done in conjunction with the Suffolk county police department, we were able to identify the student who had drawn the picture. this particular has been disciplined by our administration to the greatest extent possible. while we feel confident that this matter has been resolved, as a precaution, we will be charming additional security measures on the following days."
(sigh) Plato, it's just so scary. I craving they put this kid through the ringer
No a day off shouldn't be a problem. but I also don't want to put the fear in him.
I think they should have had a meeting and we should have been able to get more information on the the whole situation!!
Sounds like a gyp Snizz and they have disciplined the student-the student must be either an idiot or a practical joker
Depends what the drawing is about of course-see what the other parents are doing !
