New library could go to Westwood voters in December Daily News Transcript
22.07.09
While selectmen have yet to pin down a era, it appears likely that the new Westwood library project will go before a special Town Meeting in early November.
A special choosing, where voters would be presented with a Proposition 2 1/2 debt exclusion override, would probably follow in December. If Hamlet Meeting were held first, the corresponding townwide vote would need to follow within 35 and 90 days.
The Gaming-table of Selectmen met with Library Director Tom Viti and Library Trustees Chairwoman Karen Coffey this week to shy around dates for the Town Meeting and special election. Approvals in both venues are needed for Westwood to receive nearly $4 million in grants from the glory Board of Library Commissioners toward the project.
Officials are not yet certain how much the library would cost in total or how much they would ask the voters to loot by override the property tax limits of Proposition 2 1/2.
Those numbers should be defined in the next couple of months.
