The replacement of Bastrop Exhilarated School principal Cynthia Atlas was an item on the Morehouse Parish School Take meals agenda Tuesday. Nine people applied for the job, with five rescinding their applications. The top three applicants were Staci Pullen, Kathy Adcock and John Washington.
MPSB Controller Tom Thrower met with all three and recommended Staci Pullen for the job. With a vote of three for and three against, the recommendation failed.
Thrower also recommended doing away with a school proctor, a warehouse manager, three cafeteria technicians and a satellite technician, as part of the reduction in strength. This passed unanimously.
Board member Jeff Churchwell brought the piece from the Building/Properties/Transportation Committee and recommended buying the computer assisted bus routing system Versatrans. This was made into a turbulence by board member Sylvia Reese and seconded by Hamp Lenoir. The gesture passed unanimously. It was also agreed upon to resurface the parking lot at Cherry Ridge Easy and to purchase 17 additional classrooms and two bathrooms, to be placed throughout the parish, due to the closure of East Side Clear and Carver Elementary.
